Score A Killer Suit Under $150

WELCOME 2016! It’s a new year and along with the new year comes our New Year's Resolutions. I’m sure I had a new year’s resolution for 2015 but I can’t remember what it was. So I guess that tells you how well I did with that.

My 2016 New Years Resolution is to buy more suits and spend less money. Lucky for you I have some pointers on how to spend less money on suits and still look dapper as ever.

I scored this killer suit from H&M for under $150! I know what you’re thinking, “how good of a suit can it be for $150?”. Yes, I have spent an entire paycheck on one suit but then I’m stuck with one suit until I’m ready to pony up another check. 2016 is all about looking sharp and living smarter. So brace yourself… The secret to making a $150 suit look like a $1,500 suit is a… TAILOR!

STYLE TIP: A tailor will make your suit fit as if it was made just for you.

Make sure you find a tailor you feel comfortable with. Believe me, you’ll have to work with them to get the right fit you want which means you’ll have to ask them continuously for adjustments. The worst thing you can do is find a tailor that gives you attitude when you ask them for more alterations.

This is what the jacket looks like right off the rack:

The sleeves were too long for my arms. My tailor had to shorten the length of the sleeves to fall right below my wrist.

And these are the pants:

Even though the pants size is 30 x 30 (my size), the length was still too long. And of course, I had the pants tailored high enough to show some ankle or nice socks.

So what was the cost of the tailor? The cost came out to about 40 bucks. I kept my New Year’s resolution of spending less on a suit by spending around $150 to get this spiffy suit made just for me!

Not bad, right?
